The Human Rights, Business & Tech department works at the crossroads between human rights and business, engaging with a range of strategic partners. These include national human rights institutions, national authorities, regional and international organisations, as well as business & financial actors and civil society.

One of our strategic priorities is to embed respect for human rights in the energy transition, including in renewable energy projects and policy frameworks at national level, as well as in regional and global value chains. As human rights and business adviser, your role will include working with partners in a consortium to support implementation of business and human rights frameworks and standards, in particular in Africa.

ABOUT THE POSITION
As an adviser you will:

  • Work with partners at national and regional level in designing, planning and implementing activities at the national and regional level to foster responsible business conduct;
  • Contribute to research and analyses in the field of responsible business in the context of the energy transition in various countries primarily in sub-Saharan Africa, including with focus on monitoring human rights impacts, supporting access to remedy, and human rights analysis of finance and investment for the energy transition;
  • Contribute to project management in the context of a dynamic consortium, including partner relations, contracting, budget and reporting deliverables;
  • Support the organisation of multi-stakeholder dialogues and capacity building at national and regional level, including both content and logistics.
YOUR BACKGROUND
  • Masters level qualification in relevant field (e.g. law, human rights, political science, sustainable development, mining & energy) and in-depth knowledge of international frameworks on business and human rights.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage partnerships in diverse country environments is essential. You should be comfortable in engaging with a variety of stakeholders at different levels and good at building relationships.
  • Strong project management skills including experience of contracting, budgeting, reporting to donors etc. Previous experience in working in a consortium set-up is an asset.
  • Command of spoken and written English and French is essential. Proficiency in other languages is an asset.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Estimated start date: September 2023.

The positions are full-time based in Copenhagen with significant international travel, with a weekly average of 37 hours. The salary and other conditions will be determined in accordance with the Danish Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations with the possibility to negotiate individual supplements.
