Are you able to lead and do you want to be in charge of further developing a cornerstone of Danish preparedness to Infections? We are looking for a strategic and visionary Executive Vice President with professional recognition, one-health experience, strong leadership skills and ability to cooperate with and strengthen the Diagnostic Preparedness at Statens Serum Institute (SSI) both nationally and internationally.
About the Diagnostic Preparedness area
Diagnostic infection preparedness at SSI is research based and includes monitoring infections and antibiotic resistance, performing laboratory diagnosis of infections in both humans and animals, supervising health services and other authorities as well as participating in operational preparedness.
The infection preparedness must be significantly strengthened with a one-health perspective and based on the learnings from the covid-19 pandemic. This also applies in terms of leadership and we are searching for an Executive Vice President, who in close collaboration with leaders, employees and colleagues in the executive board is responsible for strengthening the diagnostic preparedness for infection.
About the position
As Executive Vice President for Diagnostic Preparedness, you are responsible for all of SSI's special and emergency-critical diagnostics, where SSI in a number of areas is an international and Danish reference laboratory. This applies to the human health and the veterinary/animal health area, the latter where SSI is part of the Danish Veterinary Consortium. A main task will be to ensure a far more flexible and scalable preparedness aimed at the development, setup and evaluation of advanced new microbiological diagnostics – e.g. new PCR methods, sequencing and rapid tests on a large scale that supports effective infection detection and risk analysis.
It is a strategic priority that the tasks are solved in an open, transparent, including and joint collaboration with all relevant stakeholders in- and outside of SSI. This applies both nationally and internationally.
Your Background, Professional and Personal Qualifications
You must have a relevant education within life science/medicine/ veterinary profession and extensive professional and research experience within Diagnostic Preparedness, both nationally and internationally. Experience in working with and advising government authorities is weighed heavily.
You have considerable management experience and preferably experience in leading managers and employees using an appreciative and motivating approach. It is imperative, that you have a strategic mindset and have a strong focus on driving and developing the day-to-day operations to function at its best professionally, financially and administratively.
Your collaborative skills are strong, and you look for the best professional solutions, regardless of whether you act as a professional director, as part of SSI's management or in relation to external stakeholders.
As Executive Vice President, you will report to SSI's CEO and you will be part of the executive board.
Terms of Employment
You will be employed according to ”Rammeaftalen om kontraktansættelse af chefer i staten”. The position is in group 2/pay scale 38 and will be on a fixed-term contract of 5 years.
