Join us on an exciting journey into the world of social network modelling. Copenhagen Center for Social Data Science (SODAS), University of Copenhagen, is seeking a passionate and dedicated postdoc for a two-year project, focusing on "Modeling Human Behavior and Social Networks with Big Data". Collaborate with some of the world's leading researchers, and contribute to innovative, life-changing research.
The successful candidate will start October 15, 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The project
As part of the larger "Nation-Scale Social Networks" project, we're examining how social relations and life trajectories influence later life outcomes based on Danish registry data. Through complex data modelling and innovative methodologies, you'll help us understand how the formation of social networks causally impact and predicts life outcomes such as education, income, and employment. Who are we looking for?
We're looking for someone who:
- Holds a PhD degree (or close to defending it) in social sciences (e.g., economics or sociology) or mathematics, or data science. Obtained their PhD degree in 2017 or later.
- Has strong quantitative skills and ideally some experience in social network modelling or computational methods. This can come from either econometrics/causal inference approaches or predictive approaches, e.g. machine learning or computational social science.

Duties and Responsibilities
You'll work closely with co-Principal Investigator Andreas Bjerre-Nielsen, contributing to research designs as well as analyzing network and registry data. You're also expected to participate in the academic life of the center and will be part of Andreas’ research group.

- Terms of appointment and salary is in accordance with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikerne).
- The salary range starts at DKK 35,500 per month (EUR 4,700) + a 17.1 % contribution to the pension scheme. It is possible to negotiate salary supplements on an annual basis.
